Bio-polymers

Conventional crude oil-based petrochemicals have several harmful attributes, including non-environmentally friendly manufacturing processes, toxicity, and inability to biodegrade.

Miraculously, Microalgae offer a solution to this otherwise insuperable problem. Microalgae form a variety of biopolymers (bioplastics) which can be used as alternatives to conventional plastics. Making bioplastics from Microalgae can be completely biological in nature and does not involve the use of chemicals. Therefore, it is not only more environmentally friendly but also more sustainable than the current petrochemical industry for the manufacturing of conventional plastics.

Another benefit of Microalgal Bio-polymers is that their properties are comparable to those of conventional plastics but are relatively less toxic and more biodegradable. The extent to which Microalgal Bio-polymers can be biodegraded and the time required for it depends upon multiple factors, but these can all be controlled.

Therefore, completely biodegradable, as well as non-biodegradable products can be made by using Microalgae. The non-biodegradable or slowly degradable polymers are essential for industries, making products that should run for a long time, for example, in automotive, construction industries or electrical and medical applications, etc. Aligma is working towards the ultimate goal of producing raw materials for these sorts of products.

Carbon Capturing and Sequestration Projects

Aligma is doing its part and engages with industries in providing nature-based solutions by harnessing the power of algae to develop and produce high value environmentally friendly and sustainable products. By collaborating with companies in helping to meet their ESG goals, through CO₂ Capturing, sequestration, and utilisation.

We see waste CO₂ as the New Green Gold – and an ESG Positive Effort. We are currently in talks with multiple multinationals to develop industrial-scale algae farms alongside emitting industries.
